Why we don’t advise LED post microneedling

We frequently see the use of LED light therapy following microneedling. While both treatments are excellent on their own, we do not combine them here.

Microneedling involves the use of small needles to create thousands of microchannels in the skin. This controlled trauma triggers the body’s natural wound healing response- prompting the release of growth factors. These growth factors stimulate fibroblasts to produce more hyaluronic acid, collagen, and elastin, and they help remodel capillaries in the treated area. During this process, the skin becomes red, entering a crucial inflammation phase that should not be interfered with. Introducing LED light therapy during this time can negatively impact this essential inflammatory response.

At sage skin we enjoy the heat, then lock that new collagen in the next day with dermaviduals bespoke serums and creams full of antioxidants, vitamins and essential fatty acids. We advise LED from day 3-5.
