Why don't we use preservatives in Dermaviduals

What is a preservative?
A preservative is an ingredient added to products to prevent them from spoiling due to bacteria, mould, or other causes of decay.

Where do we find them?
In products that contain water, as water provides an ideal environment for bacteria to flourish. If the packaging is an open pot or jar, there will be more preservatives due to your fingers contaminating the product with bacteria.

So what's the problem?
Bacteria naturally reside on our skin, aiding in combating harmful pathogens and maintaining a healthy acid mantle, aka your skin barrier and skin microbiome. When we use products containing preservatives on our skin, they seek out to destroy all bacteria, including the essential bacteria that forms the skin's microbiome - our first line of barrier defence. Therefore effecting all skin functions.

How do Dermaviduals stay bacteria free?
Dermaviduals production costs are significantly higher compared to conventionally preserved products. Time and money goes towards finding skin friendly alternatives. In addition to this it is not necessary to add preservatives to pure oils and fats.
